Project Experience – Virlyn B Smith Rd, City of Fairburn
|Project Name:||Virlyn B Smith Rd, City of Fairburn|
|Client Name:||City of Fairburn Public Works|
|Completion Date:||April 2007 - 2.4 Lane Miles|
Project consisted of the mix design, reconstruction and widening of an existing 22' road section with severe fatigue, cracking and potholes. 2 feet each side was trenched out with a 2' milling machine and the road was pulverized to a depth of 10.5 inches to achieve a reclaimed road base of 26 feet wide. While maintaining an average daily traffic volume of 6,000 vehicles the 2.4 lane miles was stabilized with 8" of full depth reclamation and paved with 3.5 inches of asphalt within a 3 week period. Also this roadway each year receives the traffic from a million visitors that attend the Georgia Renaissance Festival and the City was pleased to have the new road completed for the event.
